ESSENTIALS is a brand launched by the world-renowned designer Jerry Lorenzo as a second line of FEAR OF GOD.

Jerry Lorenzo has an unusual career history: his father was a major leaguer, he worked as a salesman in a shop while in college, and after graduating he got a job with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

During his unique career, he taught himself how to make and design clothes, went independent in 2012 and launched “FEAR OF GOD” the following year in 2013.

After rapidly gaining immense popularity among international celebrities and influencers and experiencing rapid growth, ESSENTIALS was launched as a successor to FOG, a second line that is simpler, easier to match, and less expensive than FEAR OF GOD.

The reason why ESSENTIALS has become so popular can be seen from Jerry Lorenzo's branding strategy.

FOG, the second line before ESSENTIALS was established, signed an exclusive sales contract with the retail clothing brand "PacSun". PacSun was founded in 1980 and at its peak had over 1,300 stores across all states in the United States, and this exclusive sales contract helped evolve the brand into a more exclusive brand.

Furthermore, the main line, FEAR OF GOD, was targeted at the wealthy and sold at a high price range, whereas ESSENTIALS was sold at a cheaper price range and appealed to young people with simple, eye-catching items featuring logos.

As a result of this sales strategy, the product became a favorite among many international celebrities and famous artists, and it quickly became a hit among young people as an easy-to-purchase, trendy item.
