Founded in 1986 by Bill Mann and George Yohn in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
The name comes from the skateboarding trick " AIRWALK ."

Airwalk Carlsbad, California branch is established to strengthen design and marketing to meet the needs of skateboarding and BMX.
Lee Smith, a former skater, introduced the skateboarding shoe "Air Walk" and went on to produce many classic skate shoes such as "Air Walk Enigma" and "Air Walk Velocity."
In 1988, the company released snowboarding boots and became known as a snowboarding brand.

The company actively supports many professional skaters, BMX riders, and snowboarders, as well as underground musicians and sponsors music events.
