STUSSY
Stussy is an apparel brand founded by Shawn Stussy, a popular surfboard shaper in Southern California, USA.
His original and innovative surfboard designs have garnered enthusiastic support from some quarters. At the same time, in 1980, he began selling his scribbled logo printed on T-shirts (called "Tees"), shorts, surfboards, etc. Also, his cursive writing of his surname, "Stussy," became popular and was adopted as the brand logo. Skaters, reggae musicians, hip-hop musicians, and DJs all loved to wear them, and they began to be sold in specialized markets.
In 1986, showrooms were opened in New York and Los Angeles, and the brand was launched in Japan in the same year.
In 1992, the first directly managed Stussy Gear store in Japan was opened in Jiyugaoka, Tokyo. In 2001, CUSTOMADE was born, featuring famous artists, and collaboration items have always attracted attention. In 2005, the company celebrated its 25th anniversary, and under the concept of "STUXXV LOGOS" (XXV = 25th anniversary), the company launched a series of collaborations with NIKE and GORE-TEX, and held the STUSSY WORLD TRIBE. In 2011, the company expanded from STUSSY GIRLS to STUSSY WOMEN. Stussy has established a solid position in the street and hip-hop genres, and continues to expand and grow not only in Tokyo but also nationwide, from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
